Experimental songwriter/guitarist from the North East. Expect age-old ballads, apocalyptic folktales, bawdy misadventures, awe-inspiring guitar work and some real heart-wrenchers. He’s got some good jokes too.
His songs are delivered with an intensity and warmheartedness that is captivating, lyrics melding the mundanities of anadin extras and spaghetti hoops with absurdist and hallucinatory imagery to form a kind of Tyneside magic realism.
Richard’s last Album Nothing Important is widely considered to be bit of a masterpiece, heaping praise and many starred reviews but a gig (especially in the intimate confines of Wharf Cs) is still the best way to take in his music.
